SHIPPING YOUR FIREARM
If you need to ship your firearm to us for service, repair, or transfer, please see the guidelines below:
Per the ATF's "Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide" (ATF P 5300.4):
"...any lawful gun owner may ship a firearm to Fouled Anchor Guns & Gunsmithing via common carrier for the purpose of repair or modification and receive it back directly."
*** Due to recent policy changes, you can no longer ship your firearm through UPS or FEDEX unless you hold an active FFL.
Below are your options to ship your firearm to us:
United States Postal Service (USPS)
Publication 52, Section 432
- Unlicensed persons can ship a rifle or shotgun by US Mail.
- Unlicensed persons cannot ship a handgun by US Mail. Pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed on the person (for example, short-barreled shotguns and short-barreled rifles) are defined as handguns.
- No markings of any kind that indicate the nature of the contents may be placed on the outside wrapper or container of any mailpiece containing firearms.
- Postal regulations allow the Post Office to open your package for inspection.
Firearm Shipping Service
A search engine search for "Firearm shipping service" will bring up companies such as "Ship My Gun" and "Ship Outdoors" who provide a shipping service for your firearm.
Services are normally pretty easy... You create an account, fill out the shipping information, print the shipping label, and drop off the package at one of the local FFLs partnered with the company.
Make sure you read all of the terms and conditions for the company you choose prior to using their services as we are not responsible for any information provided. We also do not endorse teh two companies listed above ads these are used as examples only.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Do not ship firearms to Fouled Anchor Guns & Gunsmithing prior to contacting us.
- Do not ship ammunition with your firearm.
- If required to provide our Federal Firearms License (FFL) number, please contact us for that information.
- Package your firearm securely to prevent damage while shipping. Fouled Anchor Guns & Gunsmithing is not responsible for any damage incurred during the shipping process.
- Include a copy of your gun license or permit (if required by your state) and a copy of your Driver's License or equivalent legal identification. Address on identification MUST match the return address of the sender (unless using a dealer/FFL).
- Return address must be a physical address. Firearms will not be returned to PO Boxes or shipping centers.
- Obtain enough insurance to cover the firearm for FULL replacement value.
