Transfers

We are a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) and provide private party, out-of-state, online, and dealer firearm transfers.

AT THIS TIME WE ARE NOT FACILITATING TRANSFERS ON NFA ITEMS (FULLY AUTOMATIC FIREARMS, SHORT BARREL RIFLES/SHOTGUNS, SILENCERS)

CO 3-DAY WAIT PERIOD - HOUSE BILL 23-1219

Effective October 1, 2023:

It is unlawful for any person who sells a firearm, including a licensed gun dealer as defined in Section 18-12-506 (6), to deliver the firearm to the purchaser until the later in time occurs:

1. Three days after a licensed gun dealer has initiated a background check of the purchaser that is required pursuant to state or federal law; or
2. The seller has obtained approval for the firearm transfer from the Bureau after it has completed any background check required by state or federal law.

EXCEPTIONS:

1. The sale of an Antique Firearm, as defined in 18 U.S.C . SEC. 921 (a)(16), as amended, OR a Curio or Relic, as defined in 27 CFR 478.11, as amended.
2. The sale of a firearm by a person serving in the Armed Forces of the United States who will be deployed outside of the United States within the next thirty days to any family member.

OUT-OF-STATE / ONLINE TRANSFERS

Please email us at fouledanchorguns@gmail.com with the following information:

1. Seller's contact information (name, email, and phone number)
2. Your name and phone number

We will contact you when the firearm has been received and processed. You can then come into the shop and start your background paperwork.

PRIVATE PARTY TRANSFERS

1. Seller can only transfer a firearm that legally belongs to them
2. Both Seller and Buyer must have valid identification
3. Buyer must complete a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) system background check and pay the transfer fee​​
4. If Buyer fails the background check and the firearm is in the store for more than 24 hours, Federal Law requires that the Seller must complete and pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) system background check as if they were purchasing the firearm​

FIREARM STORAGE

All inbound FFL transfers to Fouled Anchor Guns & Gunsmithing are expected to be picked up within 30 days, unless express arrangements are made in writing via this e-mail.

All inbound FFL transfers that have not been picked up within 30 days will be subject to a storage fee of $20 per serialized item, per month or any part of a month thereafter.

Any FFL transfers that have not been picked up within 90 days will become the property of Fouled Anchor Guns & Gunsmithing, and may be subject to being sold to cover storage and other expenses, without compensation to the transferee.

The following applies to any type of transfer:

HANDGUNS/STRIPPED RECEIVERS OR FRAMES

1. Buyer must be a Colorado resident and at least 21 years old

RIFLES/SHOTGUNS

1. Buyer must be at least 21 years and does not have to be a Colorado resident
2. Out-of-state residents purchasing a shotgun or rifle are required to follow their home state's waiting period and laws.

IDENTIFICATION/PROOF OF RESIDENCY

1. A valid driver’s license (DL) or identification (ID) card with current address.
2. If your address is different than that shown on your DL/ID, or is a P.O. Box, you will need to provide another government document reflecting your current address (i.e. vehicle registration, municipal utility bill, resident hunting/fishing license)

MILITARY WITH OUT-OF-STATE ID

1. Must have a copy of your PCS orders, valid military ID, and valid DL/ID from one of the 50 states

RESIDENT ALIEN

1. Must have a valid green card and proof of current address
